We found that superconductivity in a novel BiS2-based layered compounds strongly correlates with the local crystal structure by investigating LaO0.5F0.5BiS2 polycrystalline samples prepared with various annealing conditions. Resistivity and susceptibility measurements showed that the Tc decreases with increasing annealing temperature. These changes can be understood by a change in the lattice constants. In this study, we concluded that the essential parameter correlating with Tc would be the length of the a axis.
